Welcome to Sierra Swim Academy. This guide covers the practical things families ask about most in their first weeks with us.
How our lessons run
Lessons are 20 minutes, one-on-one, in a year-round heated indoor pool. Twenty minutes is how long a young swimmer can genuinely concentrate, and one-on-one means nothing has to be averaged out.
Most families come twice a week. Twice-weekly lessons keep skills fresh so each lesson builds on the last.
What to bring
A well-fitting swimsuit, a towel, a change of clothes, and a swim diaper for babies and toddlers. Bring a snack for afterwards — swimmers are usually hungry.
How progress is tracked
Every skill is tracked from Not Introduced through Mastered, so you can always see where your swimmer actually is rather than waiting for a vague milestone. Ask us any time — we would rather tell you exactly than leave you guessing.
Policies, makeups and closures
Makeup credits, cancellation terms and planned closures are all published. Our Policies page covers the details, and the Holiday & Closure Calendar lists upcoming breaks.
Getting the most from lessons
- Come consistently — frequency is the biggest lever you control
- Practise the same cues in the bath between lessons
- Tell us when something changes: sleep, mood, a new fear
- Celebrate one thing they did well, every time
Questions
If something is unclear, ask. There is no question we have not been asked before, and we would rather answer it than have you wonder. You can reach us any time through the contact page.
